The Solitaire Series Episode 37: The Two of Hearts

Between Fangs and Deception, Lies a Dog's Duty

In the smoke and shadows of an unfamiliar place, Boris stands vigilant. Jack is out of reach, under the knife and beneath new identities, leaving his loyal protector to navigate a maze of shifting loyalties alone. This time, the enemies aren't just hiding in the dark—they're staring him down, wearing the faces of men who know too many secrets.

New Men speak in hushed tones of treasures concealed within Boris's vest—a card and a ring—symbols pregnant with mystery and danger. To them, he's just a dog; to Jack, he's salvation. Boris smells the fear, metallic and sharp like a blade unsheathed, and knows he must not falter. A thin man appears, reeking of desperation, bearing false goods and the scent of betrayal. His presence heralds an impending storm, where every bark echoes with the peril Jack will face upon awakening.

Boris is caught between primal instinct and human deceit, teetering on the brink of a world that knows no mercy. Amidst the cold tile and chemical tang, he fights against invisible chains, knowing that survival may demand more than just loyalty—it might mean breaking from those who claim to scratch behind his ears. For a dog like Boris, fidelity is all-encompassing. But in the heart of this waking dread, who will listen when Danger itself comes knocking?
