Mead sets the Baptist beside Jesus as a mystical teacher in his own right, drawing Mandaean traces and rare translations on repentance, immersion, and cosmic wisdom. Early Christian argument opens into secret doctrine and inner transformation — John as hinge of hidden knowledge, not only a Jordan prologue. Dated scholarship that still opens texts most church histories leave in the margin.
