A Chance for Lara

Some secrets can't be kept . . .

Lara Cummings came to Last Chance with her sister for a new life, far away from the farm where her inquisitive nature always seemed to land her in trouble. Living on her cousins' ranch sounded ideal . . . until the drought came. Now, Lara's opportunities to have a family of her own are shriveling as quickly as the chances the ranch has for survival.

Mitchell King wants as far away from Colorado as he can get. But opportunities to work are slim, and when he arrives in Last Chance, he's more than willing to take a job on a ranch in exchange for room and board. Of course, the pretty, mischievous redhead who lives there makes it all the easier to decide to stay. What he didn't count on was a group of people who quickly begin to feel like family.

Falling for Lara wasn't in Mitchell's plans, but she seems just as interested in him. She's impulsive and fascinating, and Mitchell has never met anyone like her. Just as he starts to think he might have found home--and love, Lara's curiosity digs up the part of Mitchell's past he'd rather keep buried. But when it comes time to reckon with it, he has to make a decision: stay for love, or leave to save Lara's life.
