Do you enjoy genre-bending, coming-of-age adventures?
This is a story of survival, of hope in the darkness.
Our hero is a modern day teenager trapped in foster care hell. Sabin can choose to stay put in an abusive home or escape to the brutal life of the streets. Neither option makes sense. A third way promises an escape, but leads to a fantastical new world fraught with trouble.
We do not end where we begin. If your imagination is bound by known science, pick a different book to read. Herein lies monsters, magic, and swords.
Content warnings: Racism. Bullying. Prejudice against people who are overweight. Violent deaths, murder. Suicidal ideations. Slavery. Abduction. Abandonment. Physical abuse. Verbal abuse. Inappropriate sexual objectification of another gender. Stealing. Lying. Not recommended reading for children.
Please take the content warnings seriously. Also please note, if anyone thinks that the author is overexaggerating the suffering of foster kids in present day America, they are gravely mistaken.
