Book of I Timothy

In the first book of Timothy, Paul encourages him in his ministry of pastoring in the Ephesus Church. Paul had planted the Ephesus church himself, working there for over three years, and as Paul becomes more aware of his impending end at the hands of Nero, he is setting things in order for the next generation. Major themes include the use of The Law, warnings against false doctrine, instructions for prayer, roles of women in the church, and qualifications for leaders of the church, among others. Key phrases in this book include; “fight the good fight”, “This is a faithful saying”,” let no one despise your youth”.
