Josh Anvil and the Cypress Door

Fourteen-year-old Josh Anvil struggles with dyslexia in high school, while his family faces hardship after his father is injured in a severe arson fire. During an escape-minded canoe trip into his family's backwater swamp, Josh experiences a mysterious event that permanently alters his reality. He gains the staggering ability to conjure living things-ranging from giant spiders and mythical dragons to entire floating islands in the sky-simply by speaking them into existence. He also inherits the capability to heal the sick. Yet as destructive serial arson fires break out across Baton Rouge, Josh is targeted by a mysterious lethal threat and investigated by the FBI, forcing him to use his unchecked powers to protect his family and untangle the mystery.
