When marijuana enthusiast Blue McKenna suffers an apocalyptic case of writer’s block, reality TV seems like an easy way out. A conglomerate of kooky contestants invades the polygamist community of Navel, Utah, to compete in a reality show called Yikes! Participants include Steven Finch, a loveable stoner who develops a conspiracy theory involving a rock band called the Rectal Surgeons, and Randall Smoot, a member of the gay mafia.

    Another Quirky Winner!

    Once again, Adele Park brings us a quirky tale, brought to life by a cast of extraordinary actors. Yikes!: Another Quirky Audio Book is so funny, so full of wit and charm that my face began to hurt from the constant smile I had when listening. That smile is back now as I write this! One of my favorite things about this audio book, aside from so many wonderfully eccentric performances, were the chapter breaks. I know, I know, that may sound strange, but there's this little 'mindfulness' chime, and then you hear Adele Park herself, voice clear as a bell, as the 'Studio Announcer', always followed by a beautifully nuanced read by Narrator Steve Campbell (Ahhh, what a voice!) Adele Park then announces the chapter before the actor reading the chapter (as their character) takes over. It's quite magical, and I just Loved it! Anyway, Yikes is just a barrel of fun. Nice Work! Note: I received a copy of Yikes!: Another Quirky Audio Book in exchange for an objective review. Lucky me:)))))

    The Play On Words Is Magnificent

    First of all, the characters names alone will bring a smile to your face. Then once you hear teir voices, ah, you are sucked into the journey of twin sisters, Reality TV, Music and hilarity. Even the brutality within the story is amusing and I am one peace loving individual but the writing and infliction or reading of characters is perfection, so much you grin and laugh at misfortune; something only a masterful comedic writer can create. Buy this book, buy Jittes and certainly buy Gadzooks for you will find it so nice to be lost in imagination and journey to another town, another place; almost another reality. I hope Adele Parks comes back to share all her books with us at It Matters Radio; she is a treat to speak with and a master of writing and comedy. Well done.
