Very Enjoyable
I am a sucker for dystopian universe narratives, so pardon my bias. Margaret Atwood is my all-time favorite author and there were elments in this novel that reminded me of her work. Overall, I really liked this story and it stuck with me. The story centers around a young couple trying to stay alive in a world torn apart, set it a not-to-distant future. So many books I have read just skip over this part of their universe's history and just begin with an established oppressive regime the protagonists have to overcome. This book is set almost right after the collapse of the world economy, and is beset with devastating natural disasters. So observing two people trying to survive individually, as a unit and as an growing family was unique and engrossing. This is only Edan Lepucki's second novel (i think am remembering that correctly) it did have moments of weakness but overall there were some really great parts. I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates this particular genre and wants a different take.
