“An epic tale of Redwall from the pen of master storyteller Brian Jacques, Outcast of Redwall is a kaleidoscope of color, range, and emotions that culminates in a bitter contest between good and evil. None of the passion of the earlier Redwall titles is lost, as some of the most cherished landscapes and best-loved characters from previous books are revisited with a wisdom and clarity that has developed and endured…Has a divine, enduring quality that ranks it among the best in children’s literature.”

Amazon.com, editorial review

This stirring, sword-rattling novel from New York Times bestselling author Brian Jacques is full of the memorable characters and mouthwatering feasts his beloved Redwall series is known for. Also a moving morality tale, Outcast of Redwall shows that questions of right and wrong do not always have simple answers. Embroiled in a continuing struggle with his nemesis Sunflash the Mace, evil ferret warlord Swartt Sixclaw abandons his son. Taken in by the kindly folk of Redwall Abbey, the youngster is named Veil and raised in the hope he will become good. But Veil commits an unforgivable crime and is banished forever. So when Swartt goes on a rampage, Veil must make a choice. He can either fight for the father who orphaned him, or for those who raised him wellbut ultimately turned him away. Jacques and his team of performers work together to create distinct voices for all the characters in this rich novel, creating a listening experience that lingers in the memory long after the final word.
