“The tightly crafted story line is nicely executed, but the most important element, and one that truly touches the heart, is the underlying theme of love.”

School Library Journal

When archaeopteryxes begin to dominate birdworld and build an evil empire, the Great Spirit has a sword forged that will obey the claws of a great bird who will restore peace to the world. After escaping from slavery, Wind–Voice, along with his friends Stormac and Ewingerale, begin their quest for the great sword. However, Maldeor, an archaeopteryx, has been granted power by an evil spirit and sent to find the magical sword. As the two rivals race to find the Great Spirit's sword, the future of birdworld and his destiny as Swordbird rests in the balance.
