The Moonstone

The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins is one of the great landmarks of Victorian literature and is widely regarded as one of the earliest modern detective novels. At the center of the mystery is a magnificent Indian diamond, stolen from a sacred temple and later inherited by a young Englishwoman. When the priceless gem suddenly disappears from her country house, suspicion falls upon servants, relatives, guests, and perhaps even those closest to her.

Told through a series of shifting narrators, The Moonstone unfolds as a richly atmospheric tale of theft, deception, obsession, romance, and hidden motives. Collins builds the mystery piece by piece, introducing memorable characters, false clues, conflicting testimony, and unexpected revelations while exploring themes of colonialism, greed, guilt, class, and the unreliable nature of memory.

Narrated by Geoffrey Giuliano and The Rebellion, this production brings Collins's celebrated mystery vividly to life with dramatic character, suspense, and period atmosphere. Giuliano's distinctive theatrical delivery gives energy and immediacy to a classic whose influence can still be felt throughout modern crime and detective fiction.
