Leaves Of Grass

Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass is one of the great poetic achievements of American literature—a bold, passionate celebration of life, nature, freedom, the body, the soul, and the limitless possibilities of the human spirit.
First published in 1855 and continually revised throughout Whitman's life, this revolutionary collection broke with the formal traditions of its day. In expansive, musical free verse, Whitman speaks directly to the common man and woman, finding beauty and holiness in work, love, friendship, democracy, grief, travel, and the changing landscape of America itself.
At once intimate and immense, Leaves of Grass invites the listener to see the world anew: every individual is connected, every life has dignity, and every moment holds the possibility of wonder. From the unforgettable "Song of Myself" to his moving reflections on war, loss, and renewal, Whitman's voice remains fresh, fearless, and profoundly alive.
