Operation Golden Light

Operation Golden Light (Principles of Taiyi Golden Light Practice) is a book about meditation. It is a fresh translation of a Chinese text known in the West as The Secret of the Golden Flower.

This new translation focuses on the goal of returning to the essential light of Being- something achieved ironically by doing nothing. In this translation, the translator wanted to see the book through the eyes of the original author(s), avoiding much of the philosophical, psychological and religious baggage of the Western mindset over the past century injected into most translations.

Knowing the growing trend towards the formal study of wellbeing by people of all ages, I see the value in what we can take from this work and apply to our own experience, says the translator. The text is in English and Chinese (hanzi and pinyin).

The heaven and earth energies never cease to circulate, but a lot of what we see is artificial. We are able to harmonise yin and yang to modulate nature so that in their own time clouds will gather, rain will fall, plants will flourish and rivers and mountains will flow smoothly. Even when we meet discord, we are able to pause it and resolve it. This is the way of the great heavenly cycle. (Ch 12)
