Bad luck is worse than a plague in Wrencliff Hollow and Vivian Locksmeade has had her fair share. The loss of her parents and an epic heartbreak have the townsfolk convinced she is a contagion of misfortune. Little do they know that not only is she a witch and a seductress, but a victim of a curse: one that forces her to kill the men she loves against her will.
Vivian has learned not to let her feelings go that far anymore, and instead keeps herself satisfied with a string of affairs. At least so she thought. When one such paramour is found dead, however, Vivian fears her curse is getting stronger.
With help from her beloved friend Queenie and detective ex-boyfriend Danel, Vivian embarks on a journey of justice, salvation, and freedom. She only hopes old feelings remain bottled and save Danel from a similar deadly fate.
A story about redemption and overcoming self-sabotage In Defense of Magic is a speculative crime noir romance that will leave you bewitched.
