Carmilla

"Carmilla" is a Gothic novella written by Irish author Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu. Originally serialized in 1871-1872, it later appeared as a standalone novella. The story is one of the early works of vampire fiction, predating Bram Stoker's "Dracula" by over two decades. The narrative is presented as the personal account of a young woman named Laura, who recounts the strange events that transpire after the arrival of a mysterious and captivating female stranger named Carmilla. As the two young women grow closer, Laura begins to experience mysterious and unsettling occurrences, leading her to unravel the enigmatic and supernatural nature of Carmilla.
