The life of a playboy pilot most definitely has its ups and downs...quite literally and figuratively. The lack of attachment and platinum membership in the mile-high club can be satisfying, but I find it's lonely, never having anyone to go home to.

No matter how I look at it, my taking-it-easy outlook on life seems perfect. What becomes a problem is when punches are thrown one stupid night and suddenly - I, a big-shot pilot - can't see.

Doctor of ophthalmology may be my title, but ophthalmologist-on-call with the local emergency room is what pays the bills. Late nights, long hours, and constantly changing shifts is tiresome, but it's a means to an end.

My dreams of owning my own practice and caring for patients on my terms is a passion I'll pursue eventually. For now, I have to settle for unexpected injuries and patients who open my eyes to new possibilities, even when they refuse to open theirs....
