What Christmas Is As We Grow Older

Charles Dickens offers a timeless meditation on the season in this tender, uplifting Christmas essay—an invitation to gather the living and the lost around the hearth of memory. With warmth and clarity, he traces our journey from childhood wonder to adult gratitude, forgiveness, and hope, showing how love endures and how the spirit of Christmas expands as we do. Mike Polischuk's gentle, intimate narration brings each image to life—the firelit home, the quiet village, the city of remembrance—guiding listeners toward comfort, compassion, and renewed joy. Short enough for a single sitting yet rich enough to revisit every year, this soulful performance is perfect for quiet evenings, family listening, or a reflective winter walk. Let this classic remind you that even as years pass and chairs fall empty, Christmas bids us welcome everything: the dreams we kept, the kindness we owe, and the hearts we still hold close.
