The Mistake Monster

What happens when one little mistake suddenly feels enormous?

Devin has spent three whole art periods making Gerald, his bright green papier-mâché turtle, just right. But when an accidental bump sends black paint spilling across Gerald's shell, Devin is sure he has ruined everything. Then something strange appears beside his chair: a fuzzy, pale-eyed creature that won't stop reminding him of what went wrong.

The more Devin tries to hide from his mistake, the bigger the Mistake Monster becomes. Getting it to shrink may mean doing the one thing that feels hardest of all: telling the truth, asking for help, and trying again.

The Mistake Monster is a warm, imaginative story about the big feelings that can follow a mistake and the courage children can find when they discover that getting something wrong does not mean they are finished.
