The Brothers Beyond the Crystal Door

Jon and Ben Sterling have planned the perfect summer vacation. Their first adventure is supposed to involve imaginary heroes, a dangerous asteroid, and a wasp's nest near the family barn.

Then their father sends them to investigate strange noises in the attic.

Hidden behind an ancient dragon chest, the brothers discover an impossible chamber and a glowing blue object known as the Magic Krystal. It reacts to Ben, speaks inside his mind, and releases enough power to blast apart a locked door.

It also attracts Frederick Fillbourne-a magician who looks exactly like a man in a photograph dated more than three hundred years ago.

Fillbourne takes the boys' parents and demands the Krystal before sunset. Jon and Ben set out to find answers, but logic quickly begins to fail. A mysterious girl named Chi can stop people in place, travel through solid walls, and move across enormous distances in seconds. She insists the brothers cannot surrender the Krystal, even to save their family, because the fate of more than one world depends on it.

Jon believes every mystery has a scientific explanation. Ben is beginning to suspect that magic is real. Before they can rescue their parents, they must decide whether those ideas are truly opposites-and whether two brothers divided by jealousy can survive a journey into another reality.
