Candy Kingfisher knows plants better than people. At fifty-seven, she's one transfer away from escaping Florida's trailer parks, hurricanes, and drama for a fresh start in Boulder, Colorado.

Then her boss slaps her with a hefty fine and a Tuesday deadline. With no savings, a borrowed Corolla, and a side hustle growing marijuana in a failing greenhouse, Candy does the unthinkable: she steals a designer handbag.

Unfortunately, the owner is a woman with a German Shepherd… and a direct line to the police. Now Candy is limping through subtropical heat with a stolen handbag, a dog bite, and a suspicious cop circling.

And just when she thinks things can't get messier, she meets Henry Tate-sunburned, sandal-wearing, and far too interested in her future.

In a town where the wind chimes never stop and the storms always come back around, Candy must decide: claw her way out alone, or risk everything on a second chance she never saw coming.
